My Journey & How I Help Photographers Build Thriving Businesses Through One-on-One Mentoring
From $50 Sessions to a Six-Figure Studio:
My Story — Journal Entry
When I look back now, it’s wild to think about how far I’ve come.
I started photographing in 2010, and if I’m being honest… I wasn’t very good. But I wanted to be. I remember that feeling so clearly — the thrill of my first paid client, handing me $50 for a session. I was ecstatic. Someone actually hired me! That spark — that feeling of being trusted to create something meaningful — is what started it all.
For years, I worked a full-time job during the day and photographed clients at night and on weekends. It was a true hustle season. Every spare minute went into shooting, editing, learning, growing. I was exhausted — but I loved it. I loved the creativity, the challenge, the process of becoming better.
Then life changed. My daughter was born, and suddenly my priorities shifted. I wanted to be home. I wanted to build something that allowed me to raise my kids while still doing what I loved. So, I made the leap. I decided to go all in on my photography business.
And honestly? I was terrified.
Even scarier — my husband didn’t have a job at the time either. But we had faith. We trusted that if I kept showing up, if I kept putting in the work, things would find a way to fall into place.
But the truth is… it wasn’t easy.
We were drowning in debt. Studio rent felt impossible. There were nights I sat in tears wondering if I should quit. I didn’t want to be a burden — I wanted to help my family, not hurt them. I felt lost, stuck, and unsure what to do next.
Then in 2016, something shifted. I realized that if I wanted things to change, I had to change them.
I made a decision that would completely transform my business — and my life.
I stopped trying to do more for less, and instead decided to do less for more.
I began offering my clients a full-service experience — designing albums, wall art, and helping them create something tangible and meaningful for their homes. I focused on connection, on experience, on service. I didn’t want to just deliver photos — I wanted to tell their story and preserve it beautifully.
It wasn’t an overnight transformation. It took years of trial, error, research, failure, and perseverance. But slowly, it started working. Clients loved the personal touch, the experience, the quality. I took on fewer sessions, but made a bigger impact.
And today… I run a 6-figure photography studio.
I am the sole provider for my family.
My husband now stays home and manages our home life, while I run the business and serve my clients full time.
It’s surreal — and beautiful — and absolutely possible for you too.
Because I know what it feels like to struggle. To question yourself. To wonder if it’s worth it.
But I also know what it feels like to finally find your rhythm. To feel the peace and joy of running a successful, sustainable business built on heart and purpose.
That’s why I mentor other photographers now. Because I want that same freedom and success for you.
You don’t have to figure it all out alone.
No more guessing. No more spinning your wheels. Just clear, hands-on guidance from someone who’s been in the trenches and made it through.
It takes work. It takes consistency. It takes heart.
But if you have the drive and the desire, I promise — you can build the business and life you’ve always dreamed of.
I believe in you.
And I’m here to help you every step of the way. 🤍
